Vegas gambling fact:

Percentage of visitors to Las Vegas who say they come to gamble: 5
Percentage of visitors to Las Vegas who actually gamble: 87

Other fun tidbits:

There is a trend in almost every parking garage in Las Vegas of smacking a shoe as high as you can on the beams (my shoe print resides in every parking garage on the strip!)

There have been 14 implosions since 1993.

Many casinos pump smells into the air vents. Mirage and Mandalay Bay pump out a coconut scent, and the Venetian uses a perfume scent. All of these casinos and many others use Aroma Systems, Inc. and can be found on their clientele list.

17 of the 20 largest hotels in the US are in Las Vegas. (The three that are not are in Honolulu, Nashville, and Disneyworld - http://curtisk.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!2BEA4BEB109A198B!810.entry )

And perhaps the most interesting fact: 7 hotel/casinos in Las Vegas are said to be haunted:
1. Luxor - 3 men died during construction and are said to haunt the hallways.
2. Flamingo - Even though Bugsy Siegel was killed in Los Angeles, many believe he has returned to the place he loved.
3. Bally's - In 1984 (when Bally's was the MGM) a fire killed 84, who are supposedly haunting the older parts of Bally's.
4. Las Vegas Hilton - ghost of Elvis haunts the back stage of the showroom
5. Bellagio - Actor John Pierce committed suicide in 2000, and has been haunting ever since.
6. Hard Rock - Who Bassist John Entwistle died here in 2002.
7. Stratosphere - 4 people have committed suicide of the side of the tower, the most recent was in 2006, and they are known to lurk around the tower.
