Las Vegas is the most seasonal place I have ever lived. Really! - and it's also the coldest place I've ever lived. I grew up in Panama where we only had two seasons: wet (it rained all day) and dry (rained only in the morning or late evening). After moving to the States, I lived in Texas (it got hot or cold) and San Diego (it's temperate all year). I notice the seasons here, especially when hiking at Red Rock. It's the desert seasons, but the trees do change and the stars move more noticeably across the sky (we have so much open sky).
The story my husband loves is my first Halloween in the United States. My aunt brought home three pumpkins for my two cousins and I to carve. My cousins grabbed their knives and went out to the porch to carve their pumpkins "in secret". I couldn't understand why they had to do it in secret. I picked up my knife, cut the stem off the top, pulled out all the seeds, and then proceeded to cut the pumpkin into slices. I thought we were supposed to cook the pumpkin for some kind of desert. Needless to say, my cousins couldn't stop laughing at me - and I didn't get to really carve a pumpkin that year :)
