My Fourth of July celebrations are fairly standard, with variations on who's coming over: either my brother and his kids, my step-sister and her daughter, or my step-brother and step-sister-in-law and their kids, but you really can't beat the music and movies of Fourth of July. In my mind, Christmas is a contender for the prize too, but you really can't beat the patriotic stuff.

Favorite patriotic movie: Yankee Doodle Dandy (with James Cagney; video)

Favorite patriotic song: Battle Hymn of the Republic (SHeDAISY does a good version of this on the Patriot's Songbook CD)

Favorite patriotic album: American Patriot by Lee Greenwood (He has a neat song on there called "The Great Defenders", click here to listen.)

Favorite patriotic music video: Only in America by Brooks and Dunn (video)

Hope everyone has a happy, healthy, and SAFE Fourth of July!

Hey fellow JV - I'm just loving this because of your many hyphenated family members. Believe me, I have them, too! I have step-nieces, and step-sisters-in-law, and step-nephews. It just makes me giggle to see us try to write out our sometimes convoluted familial relationships. But it seems you like yours, and I like mine, and so that's what family really is, right? :D

Hi fellow JV. It does get confusing sometimes, especially when you add in exes. I've got an ex-step-brother-in-law and two ex-sister-in-laws too... but I do like 'em all, so I'll keep them around. :)
