50/50/50

In preparation for OneBook Henderson, and for my own personal interest, I watched my copy of Dean Karnazes DVD Ultramarathon Man: this weekend. It's really amazing, and there is lots of footage of when Dean ran in Valley of Fire for the Nevada marathon, especially at the end. I watched it and thought...wow, I was there that day. (I was! Didn't run with Dean, but wanted to see him up close and personal!)

The most amazing thing about Dean is not his endurance, but his good spirits and his attitude. He personally waited at the finish line for everyone who ran with him...I saw it myself! His spirits never lagged and he was ultra-supportive of everyone!

I've also begun his latest book about his 50/50 experience. I started it last night. It documents in detail all the races and has tips for running (and everything that goes with that...eating, how not to get sick...ok, I'm still on the first chapter, and that's what he's talked about so far.)

Will try to keep all this in mind during my before-work runs...Have to remember that the hardest step is the one getting out the door. (Actually the one for me is the one getting out of the bed.)...And that I never EVER feel worse after.

Joan--get a dog! It's working wonders for getting me up and out on a walk in the mornings. Run? Ha ha ha ha ha!
